President William Ruto has congratulated Donald Trump following his election victory as the 47th President of the United States.
Trump defeated current U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on the ballot in a stunning political comeback that has sent shock waves across the world.
In a statement on X on Wednesday, Ruto expressed his appreciation for the strong confidence shown in President-Elect Trump by the American electorate, further commending his leadership qualities.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Kenya and on my own behalf, I convey to Your Excellency, my warmest congratulations on your election as the 47th President of the United States of America,” said Ruto.
Trump is the first president in more than a century to win a non-consecutive second term in the White House.
He is also the only person to be elected as a convicted felon — he will face sentencing in a New York court for fraud on November 26.
Already 78, Trump is on course to break another record as the oldest-ever sitting president during his four-year term.
He will surpass current President Joe Biden who is set to step down in January at the age of 82
