Sabatia Opinion shapers recently did a poll on the popularity of leaders in Sabatia constituency in Vihiga County and concluded that Hon Sisco Mbindi is a strong force to reckon with. The Kenyan constitution lays out clear processes for recalling Members of Parliament (MPs) and it’s quite evident voters in the region want the incumbent MP of Parliament, Hon Clement Sloya to be sent packing for looting CDF to death.
A recall of the corrupt Member of Parliament can only be initiated by a voter from the constituency or county represented by the MP.
Additionally, grounds for recall are highly specific, such as a violation of Chapter 6 of the Constitution, mismanagement of public resources, or conviction of a criminal offense which the current MP has violated.
One of the most striking challenges is the requirement to gather signatures from at least 30% of the registered voters in the MP’s constituency which the Sabatia Opinion shapers has concluded is very possible.
