A terror suspect has been arrested in Nairobi’s Lang’ata area for trying to bribe a police officer to get crucial information on the popular Lang’ata Road club, believed to have been his target.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the suspect identified as Ali Abdullahi Hussein from Somalia tried to bribe an officer on patrol with Ksh180,000.

“When the officer hesitated to respond, the suspect offered a reward of Sh180,000 in exchange for the information that was not forthcoming,” said the DCI.

This prompted the police officer, whose identity is sealed for security reasons, to alert his colleagues who responded immediately and arrested the suspect.

Hussein was in possession of Ksh156,398.46 (US$1,396) when he was arrested on Saturday at 2 am.

He is currently being interrogated by the DCI-based anti-terror sleuths to determine his motive.
