Ruto Speaks After Rowdy Youth Disrupted His Kisumu Rally -

Deputy President William Ruto has responded to a section of leaders he claim incited a group of youth to disrupt his rally in Kisumu.

Through his official Facebook account, Ruto condemned the political leaders for using the youth for their own political gains, saying the Hustler Nation will ensure that the youth are liberated from regressive stone-throwing culture.

“The Hustler Nation disassociates with leaders and political groupings that use violence to advance their selfish cause. Our plans and programmes will ensure that the youth are liberated from regressive stone-throwing culture by engaging them in gainful activities that will better their lives through the Bottom-Up Economic Model,” He said.

Ruto faced a rowdy crowd in Kisumu’s Kondele area on his second day Nyanza campaign tour on Tuesday.

The crowd was seen pelting his convoy with stones, leading to a commotion between them and the DP’s security detail.

The police were, however, forced to lob tears gas to neutralize the rowdy youth.

“Kisumu hii ni Kenya. Na Kisumu hii tutahakikisha tumekomboa Kisumu kutoka mambo ya mawe,” said Ruto while protesting the situation.

The problem began when Ruto called on Kisumu residents to vote for him, claiming he was the most preferred candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Migori Governor Okoth Obado was among the leaders who accompanied Ruto on his Kisumu tour.

Ruto had earlier made successful addresses on Obote Road and Jua Kali in Kisumu Central.

He landed at the Susan Owiyo Arts Centre in Kisumu on Tuesday to start his three-day tour of the Nyanza region.

Ruto is expected to tour Homa Bay county on Thursday as he finalizes his Nyanza tour.
