UDA Is The Way To Go, Kirinyaga Governor Waiguru Tells Youth - hivipundetv.com

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has called on youth to back the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of next year’s general elections.

According to Waiguru, youth are at the forefront of UDA’s bottom-up economic model which seeks to uplift persons at the bottom of the status quo.

“I believe the party’s blueprint has the solution to bridge the widening gap between the rich and the poor and that is why I am asking all of us to get on-board and walk together towards prosperity for all,” the governor said in a statement

Waiguru was speaking on Friday at a meeting with youth drawn from Mwea, Ndia, Kirinyaga Central and Gichugu constituencies.

She stated that the government’s ‘trickle down’ model, which has been employed since independence, has been a failure and it is about time youth advocate for change, citing that the bottom-up model has been successful in Kirinyaga.

“The youths will be among those who will benefit the most from the bottom-up economic model. We have clearly demonstrated it here in Kirinyaga with our Wezesha programme where we have empowered ordinary Kenyans to undertake life changing projects like poultry keeping, pig rearing, fish, tomato and avocado farming so that they can earn money,” she said.

Waiguru also advised youth to choose wisely when voting for political candidates stating that majority of politicians make empty promises before the polls, only to disappear immediately after getting into office.

“I am asking you to interrogate each of those seeking to be elected as governor or any other seat, ask them to show you what they have done for the people and measure it against the work we have done,” Waiguru said.

Waiguru jumped ship to the Deputy President William Ruto-led UDA party from Jubilee on October 26, 2021 following a meeting with DP Ruto at his official residence in Karen. She claimed that the Mt Kenya region was dissatisfied with how President Jubilee has been run over the last five years.

According to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Waiguru’s decision to change camp was spurred by UDA’s ideology and beliefs which she resonated with.
