On Friday, Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici told Kenyans she regretted spending huge amounts of resources in selling the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Kirinyaga county and that her bad feelings about the Handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga have since changed.
However, her main rival in Kirinyaga, Anne Waiguru now says the Woman Rep is jilted, and that UDA belonged to everyone, regardless of when they joined the outfit.
Waiguru posed.
On Thursday, Purity Ngirici said she was taking a backseat from UDA activities to let new members (Waiguru) have their moment. This was followed by an interview a day later with a local publication where the Woman Rep who said she was no longer bitter about the Handshake and that Governor Waiguru’s defection to UDA opened her eyes and is now looking at politics differently.
”The president only got a new friend who was his political arch-rival. The move calmed the country and the protests became a thing of the past. I am now no longer bitter about the move since Waiguru’s defection opened my eyes,” Woman Rep Ngirici said.
However, Governor Waiguru is telling Ngirici to be welcoming to competition, saying her defection had been informed by what she had listened to on the ground.
Asiyekubali kushindwa si mshindani; bado tunatafta watu wengine, wale ambao hawajajiandikisha katika chama cha UDA, tunataka watu wote waingie UDA ili tushindane,” she said.
