We will not dissolve CCM to join UDA, Rutto to DP Ruto - hivipundetv.com

Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) leader Isaac Rutto has differed with Deputy President William Ruto on his calls of having those planning to support his 2022 presidential bid dissolve their respective political parties and join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking to Kass FM on Tuesday, Rutto, also former Bomet governor told the deputy president he is not about to collapse CCM but assured him they will cast the presidential vote to UDA.

”We want to make it clear we are not about to collapse CCM, we will maintain the CCM party. William Ruto’s ideologies are similar to those of CCM, that’s why we are supporting him…this means  DP Ruto is a candidate of both UDA and CCM. This isn’t contradictory because he wants our votes,” he said.

Rutto, who has declared his interest in the Bomet gubernatorial seat next year also lashed out at Rift Valley politicians saying only UDA politicians should be around the DP, asking them to give him and CCM party a break.

”The DP has offered himself and we are going to vote for him unless he says he doesn’t want our votes as a party. These leaders moving around and saying we don’t want CCM in UDA should give us a break.”

Apart from the CCM leader, Governor Hillary Barchok and Petroleum and Mining CAS John Mosonik are also eyeing the Bomet seat.

UDA is expected to be the most dominant party in the Rift Valley but Kanu and CCM are some of the other parties expected to challenge DP Ruto’s party in the region.
